Lluc is a pretty little village located about 30 kms beyond Soller, in the north of the island. To get here, you need to drive though the spectacular Serra de Tramuntana mountains...
Back in the 13th century, this remote mountain village was one of the most important places of pilgrimage on the island. To this day, people still see it as Mallorca's most sacred site.
It became famous all those years ago when a sheperd boy discovered a wooden statue of the Virgin in a gap in the rocks.
Nowadays the miraculous statue known as "La Moreneta" presides in its own chapel, receiving pilgrims and tourists who come to pay homage almost every day. It?s been encrusted with precious stones.
Every Sunday, there's a concert from the local boys' choir at 11am in the complex where the statue is held.
